UFO Night

At the last guild meeting for July members brought in and shared various UFOs that we have been challenged to finish by our May tea. Some of our members had quite a stack so it will be interesting to see the finished projects next May.

Our featured member this week was Mary, who brought in a selection of items she had produced and collected. Mary has a background in teaching art. She paints, does stamped cross stitch, quilts (of course!), collects stuffed bears, old toys, children's books about bears, and things with a Native American motif.
Our featured member for this month is Mary. To the right of Mary is the block she has chosen for guild members to complete for the next meeting.

At the first meeting in July Elaine presented a block she had chosen to represent herself. Those members that had finished their blocks brought them in the latest meeting for Elaine to sign.

Plans For The Coming Year

Hello everyone! At last night's guild meeting members were presented with our program for the coming year. This year's theme is 'All about me'. Our new guild president Elaine presented us with delightful challenges. At each meeting a different guild member will be featured. Because most of us do other things besides making quilts we will be able to share those interests with the guild.  The featured member will also present a block pattern to members to make for the next meeting. These will be signature blocks that the featured member that presented the block will sign. At the end of our year the members will have accumulated blocks signed by each of our members. Quilts made from these blocks signed by our quilting sisters will be treasured by every member. Also the challenge is on to dig up those UFOs long forgotten and share at the next meeting. Members will be encouraged to finish those UFOs to show at our May tea. It looks to be an exciting year!

Our first featured member was our president Elaine. She shared with us her career as a teacher and where she had lived many years in 'Jersey'. Her many interests were her grandchildren, knitting, crocheting, quilting, bowling and horseback riding. Also she is a member of the red hat society.
This is the first quilt Elaine made.

This is the first signature block (Elaine's choice) that we will be making.
These are the latest quarterly block 'Washington Island Poppies' that Carolyn has chosen for us to make.
